Hyderabad: Operation Theatre seized at Sidharth Neuro Hospital in Madeenaguda

Inspections were conducted following allegations of medical negligence, made by the relatives of a young woman who died in the hospital

Hyderabad: The District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO), Rangareddy along with several other senior district health officials on Monday conducted inspections at Sidharth Neuro Hospital, Madeenaguda and seized the Operation Theatre of the health care facility.

Apart from seizing the operation theatre, the Rangareddy DM&HO, Dr Venakateswarlu and Deputy DMHO, Dr Vijaya Purnima directed the hospital management to stop taking new admissions to patients with immediate effect.

The senior district health official said that a detailed inquiry will be conducted over allegations of medical negligence, which were made by relatives of a young woman, who had died in the hospital, after undergoing a surgery.

At present, there are 28 in-patients who are already admitted to the hospital. The DM&HO directed the hospital management not to take anymore new inpatients and ensure quality medical care is extended to the admitted patients.

The inspections were conducted following allegations of medical negligence, made by the relatives of the young woman from Kadapa. The relatives, who alleged that the medical negligence led to her death, also made a complaint that the hospital was charging exorbitant medical bills.

A few days ago, the young woman from Kadapa district was admitted to the Sidharth Hospital in Madeenaguda.
