Hyderabad: The roads of Uppal Bhagath were buzzing with high energy on Sunday as over 500 people came out to participate in a 5K run to run Covid out. Aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle and running, the run was organised by Sri Chatrapati Shivaji Maratha Sankskritic Trust at the HMDA Uppal Bhagath.
The event, which was flagged off by Allipuram Venkateshwar Reddy, chairman of Sports Authority of Telangana State, Bethi Subhas Reddy, MLA, and Dr. SM Hussaini, President, Telangana Non-Gazetted Officer union (TNGO), was organised in association with Kamineni Hospitals, LB Nagar. The hospital also provided ambulance service and medical support for the participants.
Encouraging the participants, Venkateshwar Reddy expressed that everyone should take part in sports activities and work towards a fit Telangana. “Don’t stop with this run. Keep running and do exercise and yoga everyday,” he said.
Bethi Subhas Reddy said, “Maratha community in Hyderabad plays an important role in the development of the State. The Telangana government has provided two acres of land for the construction of Maratha Bhawan in HMDA Uppal Bhagath for the upliftment of the community.” The MLA also announced that a statue of Shivaji Maharaj will be constructed at Uppal bund or at Ramanthapur bund very soon.
President and members of Sri Chatrapati Shivaji Maratha Sankskritic Trust, including LK Shinde, Prakash Patil, Madan Jadhav, Nivas Nikam and Monish Ghadge also participated in the event. The Director of Kamineni Hospitals, Vasundara Kamineni and their Marketing head, M Pramod Kumar also took part in the run.
