Hyderabad: The latest victim to the notorious KYC fraud in the city is a pilot, who lost Rs.10.38 lakh.
Police said the pilot was conned by cyber fraudsters on the pretext of updating his KYC details in bank records. The victim had on Thursday gone to an ATM centre to withdraw cash and change his PIN number but was unable to do so for some technical reasons and returned home. After some time, he received a message on his phone from an unknown number asking him to update his KYC details.
“The fraudsters sent a link to his mobile phone and asked him to click it and follow the guidelines. He keyed in his details including CVV number and the OTPs he received through text messages. Later, he found that an amount of Rs.10.38 lakh was debited from his bank account,” Hyderabad Cybercrime officials said.
Following a complaint from the victim, the police booked a case and are investigating.
