Hyderabad: Special Chief Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department, Arvind Kumar on Friday visited the stepwell at Masjid E Qutub Shahi, a mosque in Attara Sidi and Katora Houz located in Golconda. Plans are under way to rejuvenate the water body, this is besides the restoration works near Masjid E Qutub Shahi to make it a tourist attraction.

“There is a cannon here and the MA&UD Department wants to develop the complete structure into a tourist attraction by retaining its historical significance,”said a GHMC official.Following these proposed developmental works, MA&UD, GHMC and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) officials visited the place.


The Special Chief Secretary also inspected Katora Houz lake to further rejuvenate it and Deccan Park near Qutub Shahi Tombs where developmental works are underway. These works will be taken up in addition to the conservation of monuments in different parts of the city.

Recently, the Greater Hyderabad Heritage and Precincts Committee (GHHC) held a city level meeting and ordered the removal of encroachments near 25 protected monuments. Clearing the bushes, improving the landscaping at monuments and works to conserve them will also be taken up.
