Hyderabad Police issues advisory against fraudulent schemes promising medical seats
Hyderabad Police VC Sajjanar has warned parents and students against fraudulent schemes promising medical seats, even as NEET-UG exams are set to begin
Hyderabad: Amid the backdrop of the NEET-UG examination season, the Hyderabad Police have issued an advisory warning parents and students against a surge in fraudulent schemes promising medical seats.
Officials said that fraudsters were targeting anxious families by exploiting the high demand and prestige associated with the medical profession. These agents are reportedly offering MBBS seats at low cost under management quota, even for students with low NEET scores, or claiming to secure admissions in foreign countries at unusually cheap rates.
Taking to media, City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar on Friday said, “In the past, multiple cases have been reported within the Hyderabad Commissionerate limits where parents lost substantial amounts of money and students ended up losing valuable academic years after falling prey to such fraud networks.”
Police emphasised that before considering admission to any foreign medical university, parents must verify whether the institution was recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC). This can be done through the official NMCwebsite or by directly contacting the concerned university.
Sajjanar also advised against making cash payments to middlemen or agents. Any official fees should be paid only through authorised banking channels directly to the respective college or university accounts.
In case of any suspicious approach or harassment for money in the name of MBBS admissions, citizens were advised to dial 100 or lodge a complaint at the nearest police station.
