Hyderabad: In a significant administrative exercise, the State government has carried out a major reshuffle of IPS officers and inspectors in Hyderabad and its surrounding regions, aligning the police machinery with the recent reorganisation of police commissionerates and the creation of the new Future City Police Commissionerate.

As part of the recent reshuffle, several senior IPS officers were transferred and given new responsibilities across Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri, and Future City commissionerates. As per officials, the changes are aimed at strengthening leadership, improving coordination, and ensuring effective policing in rapidly expanding urban and semi-urban areas.

Simultaneously, a large number of inspectors have been transferred on administrative grounds within Hyderabad Police limits. The inspector-level reshuffle is intended to balance manpower, infuse fresh leadership at police stations, and enhance operational efficiency in law and order, traffic and specialised wings.

Officials said the restructuring of police jurisdictions and the formation of the Future City commissionerate would help in proactive policing, better crime prevention, and improved public service delivery in view of the city’s fast-paced growth.

The transfers have come into effect with immediate effect, and officers have been directed to report to their new postings without delay.

Young IPS officers posted in key traffic roles in Hyderabad

In an effort to strengthen traffic management and ease persistent congestion across Greater Hyderabad, the government has reshuffled several IPS officers, entrusting key traffic responsibilities to younger officers with field experience.

The postings cover the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda and the newly created Future City Police Commissionerates, all within the Greater Hyderabad region. Officials said the move is aimed at building a more efficient and sustainable traffic system through stronger on-ground supervision.

As part of the orders, Avinash Kumar, previously Additional SP (Operations), Kothagudem, has been posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-I), Hyderabad, overseeing Khairatabad and Secunderabad zones. Kajal, former Additional SP, Utnoor, will serve as DCP (Traffic-II), Hyderabad, handling Golconda and Jubilee Hills areas.

In Cyberabad, S Seshadrini Reddy, earlier Additional SP, Jagtial, has been appointed DCP (Traffic-II), in charge of Kukatpally and Quthbullapur zones. Kankanala Rahul Reddy, formerly Additional SP, Bhongir, has been posted as DCP (Traffic-I), Malkajgiri Commissionerate.

The Future City Police Commissionerate has also been strengthened with Shivam Upadhyay, Additional SP (Operations), Mulugu, taking charge as DCP (Traffic). G Chandana Deepti, DIG (Railways), has been posted as Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration and Traffic). B K Rahul Hegde has been transferred as DCP (Traffic-III), while G Ranjan Ratan Kumar has been appointed DCP (Traffic-I) for the Serilingampally zone.
