Hyderabad: The Habeebnagar police are seeking help from forensic experts to confirm the identity of a person whose skeletal remains were found at a house in Nampally market on Monday afternoon.
A team of forensic experts visited the house and examined the skeletal remains, which were later shifted to the forensic laboratory at Red Hills. So far, the police believe the remains belong to one Ameer Khan, who lived alone in the house and might have passed away due to ill health.
“A DNA test will be conducted after collecting samples from a family member of the man and matching them with the DNA samples collected from the skeletal remains. It will help in establishing the identity of the person,” said Habeebnagar Inspector T Puroshotham Rao.
After learning about the discovery, three persons claiming to be relatives approached the police and joined the investigation.
Ameer (55) lived in the house alone and had not been in touch with anyone since 2015. He was the third of Muneer Khan’s 10 children. Muneer Khan passed away in 2013.
Strangely, none of Ameer’s family members filed a complaint with the police after he allegedly disappeared in 2015. The house was also locked from outside. His younger brother Shadab, who visited the building to collect rents, reportedly did not enquire about Ameer either.
