Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police have relocated and operationalised the detention centre at Jogipet, Sangareddy district.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Crimes) M Srinivas said that the detention centre was established for the shifting, accommodation and deportation of foreign detainees involved in violations such as illegal migration, illegally staying Bangladeshis and Rohingyas (Myanmar nationals), overstaying, visa violators, conflict with law, human traffickers, and drug pedlars.
“At present, nine male and three female detainees, who are the nationals of Sudan, Nigeria, Uganda, and Cameroon, are under detention pending deportation. Deportation is carried out in coordination with national and international agencies after obtaining necessary travel documents and clearances from the Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Home Affairs,” said the official.
The deportation process is conducted either by air or through designated international border points under proper escort, ensuring compliance with all legal procedures. Since 2018, a total of 184 detainees have been deported by the Telangana police.
The State government in 2018 had established a detention centre at Old CCS Building at Basheerbagh. Now, a new facility was created at Jogipet and the detention centre was shifted to the place.
