Hyderabad: Prisoner found hanging in Cherlapally prison
The man, identified as Shaik Khaja Miya alias Khaja Baba (35) of BN Reddy Nagar in Cherlapally, was sent to the prison on July 7 in connection with a case of theft.
Hyderabad: A prisoner died, allegedly by suicide, at the Cherlapally Central Prison on Saturday.
The man, identified as Shaik Khaja Miya alias Khaja Baba (35) of BN Reddy Nagar in Cherlapally, was sent to the prison on July 7 after being arrested by the Kushaiguda police in connection with a case of theft.
“On Saturday morning, he was found hanging in the barracks. The jail staff after administering first aid rushed him to Osmania General Hospital where he was declared brought dead,” said A Manmohan, SHO (Kushaiguda).
The Kushaiguda police, based on a complaint from Jailor Ramakrishna Gotte booked a case under Section 176 of CrPC and took up investigation. On July 18, another prisoner, B. Srinu of Suryapet, who was involved in a case of murder at his native place, also died, allegedly by suicide at the prison.
