Hyderabad: Deep earth excavation works in progress around KBR Park, Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills were likely to be affected after rainwater filled multiple sites following Saturday evening’s rainfall.

GHMC officials said works proposed for flyovers and underpasses may slow down and face delays due to the monsoon.

Deep earth excavation is underway in front of KBR Park Gate No: 3 for the four-lane flyover proposed between Jubilee Hills Check Post (JHCP) and Mugdha Junction. After the rainfall, rainwater stagnated across the dug-up sites. Workers reported to the location on Sunday but did not attend to civil works because of the waterlogging.

Similar conditions were reported at excavation sites near Indo-American Cancer Hospital, Maharaja Agrasen Island, Film Nagar, and Road No: 45, Jubilee Hills, where rainwater stagnation hampered ongoing works. Most of the deep earth excavation works are being carried out for constructing pillars for uni-directional and bi-directional flyovers around KBR Park.

A senior GHMC official told Telangana Today, “Unless we dewater the rainwater from the sites, we can’t go ahead with other works. Almost, we completed all earth excavation works for the pillars and are getting ready for cement concrete mixture filling. But, due to the monsoon, these works may be delayed.”
