Hyderabad: Realtor held for selling Remdesivir in black market
According to the police, K Jashwanth Kumar from Hafeezpet and Jessy, a nurse working for a private hospital procured Remdesivir injection vials from medical distributors for lower rates and sold them in black to customers
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Special Operations Team on Saturday caught a realtor on charges of selling Remdesivir injections in the black market and seized three vials from him.
While the arrested person was identified as K Jashwanth Kumar from Hafeezpet, Jessy, a nurse working for a private hospital in Kondapur, is absconding.
According to the police, they procured Remdesivir injection vials from medical distributors for lower rates and sold them in black to customers. While the actual price is around Rs 3,500, they sold it to customers between Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000 as per need.
“They started procuring the injections, used for treating critical Covid patients saying it was for their family members. Later, they sold it to customers at an exorbitant price,” said an official.
Following a tip-off, the SOT caught Jashwanth Kumar while he was attempting to sell the injections to customers at Saroornagar. Efforts are on to nab Jessy, who is absconding, officials said.
