Hydraa authorities also received multiple distress calls from citizens affected by the sudden deluge and subsequent inundation of residential zones. According to Hydraa officials, complaints were received on overflowing of over 10 nalas, across Hyderabad

Based on the complaints, major nalas including Patny Nala (Secunderabad Cantonment), Banda Cheruvu (Malkajgiri), Prakruthi Vihar (Yapral), Alugaddabavi (Mettuguda), Osman Gunz (Jambagh), Mayuri Marg (Chikoti Garden), Gajularamaram (Devendra Nagar), Jeedimetla (Mallampet), and Jalarai Vihar (Kukatpally) overflowed. This caused not only heavy waterlogging but also inundation of the civilian areas.

Complaints about nalas overflowing and flooding of areas started coming in by calls to a designated mobile phone of the Hydraa: 9000113667 at around 4 pm on July 18 and continued the next day, on July 19, too, sources from Hydraa told ‘Telangana Today’.

Residents also urged the government machinery, including Hydraa, GHMC, and HMDA, to undertake a facelift of the nalas, which posed a high risk during every rainy season.

Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) said that the government is expected to respond promptly to mitigate the impact of the heavy rains and prevent further inconvenience to the public.
