Hyderabad sperm bank raided, seven detained

Hyderabad police raided a private sperm bank in Secunderabad on Saturday over serious alleged irregularities, including unlicensed surrogacy procedures and unethical collection methods. Seven individuals were detained, and 16 sperm samples were seized.

Hyderabad: The Task Force raided a private sperm bank located in Secunderabad allegedly over serious irregularities in sperm collection procedures on Saturday.

As per available information, the clinic operators were allegedly showing pornographic videos to donors during the sperm collection process, raising ethical and legal concerns.

Police have detained seven individuals, including staff and operators, during the raid. The raid uncovered shocking practices and led to the seizure of 16 sperm samples.

It is learnt that the clinic staff was claiming to be collecting sperm for surrogacy purposes, though proper medical licences and documentation were reportedly lacking.

The seized samples have been handed over to the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) for further examination and legitimacy verification.

Authorities are also probing whether the clinic was operating without the necessary approvals from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The police are investigating whether the clinic violated ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology) and surrogacy regulations.
