Hyderabad: Tourism and Culture Minister V Srinivas Goud offered floral tributes to popular writer and artist Suddala Hanmanthu’s portrait on the occasion of his birth anniversary on Sunday.
Hanmanthu’s son Suddala Ashok Teja, himself a popular writer, was felicitated by the Minister at a special programme at the Minister’s camp office.
The Minister said as per the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the birth and death anniversaries of popular writers, artists, singers, historians and others hailing from Telangana were being organised by the State Government to bring awareness among the present generation about their works and contribution to society.
Hanmanthu sacrificed his life for the cause of poor and downtrodden in the State and for its welfare. Through his works, especially songs, he created awareness among people, the Minister said. “His songs and works influenced people to fight against feudalism and oppression of the poor and atrocities against them ” Srinivas Goud said, adding that his lyrics were published in a book “Veera Telangana.”
