Hyderabad: Team ‘Operation Yatri Suraksha’ successfully apprehended notorious ATM card theft offender

Hyderabad: Under the ‘Operation Yatri Suraksha,’ a joint team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Secunderabad Post, Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Crime Intelligence Branch of RPF Secunderabad Division, apprehended a notorious offender, a professional bouncer, linked to three ATM card theft cases registered with the GRP Secunderabad.
On September 20, following a thorough analysis of CCTV footage, the team arrested the suspect and recovered Rs.10,000. The suspect along with two accomplices allegedly targeted unsuspecting passengers for pick pocketing and zip operation at Secunderabad railway station to steal personal belongings and fraudulent withdrawals of cash utilizing stolen ATM cards.
In the year 2023, RPF Secunderabad Division under Operation Yatri Suraksha, has apprehended 234 offenders who were involved in theft of passenger belonging offences with recovered property worth Rs 97.26 lakh and handed over to GRP.
During the current year 2024 till date, RPF Secunderabad Division has apprehended 144 offenders who were involved in theft of passenger belonging offences with property worth of Rs 89.16 lakh and handed over to GRP with an increase of 20 per cent in recovery of property compared to the corresponding period of previous year, a press release siad.
