Debashmita Chattopadhyay Banerjee, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, Secunderabad, urged the passengers to take care of their personal belongings and report any suspicious activities through Railway Helpline No 139.
The RPF said the passenger, Mangesh Baghe was travelling from New Delhi to Bangalore in Rajadhani Express, B11-61 and disembarked at Kazipet to purchase a water bottle but could not board the train on time.
As part of the campaign, RPF sought to create awareness on the critical issues of stone pelting and trespassing to passengers at the railway station and residents of colonies and slum in the surroundings.
Under the ambit of ‘Operation Amanat,’ the primary objective is the retrieval and restoration of passenger belongings and valuables, surpassing their conventional duties to assist passengers in need.
Additional Director General Police, Railways and Road Safety, Mahesh M Bhagwat who was the chief guest in the workshop, said that a large number of children access the rail network to reach cities in the hope of a better life.
The operation was successful and 9 child victims were rescued along with 4 traffickers, who were coming from Bihar and Jharkhand. Later, the GRP, Kazipet registered a case for further legal action.
As a part of the efforts, the RPF intensified its checks in trains and identified black spots in coordination with the NCB and other law enforcement agencies to target drug peddlers.
