The arrested are Molhu Mukhiya (35) and Susheel Mukhiya (29) both natives of Biraul village in Madhubani zilla of Bihar, and their associate Basanthi Arhi (40), a native of West Bengal and resident of Malakpet.
City Police Commissioner, CV Anand said the family of Rohit Kedia, had gone to attend a marriage in their family in Dubai early this month and kept gold ornaments and other expensive items in their house at Himayatnagar.
While leaving abroad, the family called Susheel from Bihar. Susheel had earlier worked at the house of Kedia family as a cook for two years and later left the job around a year ago. On being requested to come and stay for a month, Susheel again came to the city in January end.
On noticing that the family was leaving to Dubai for marriage, he called up his friend Molhu who was staying in Dubai to come to the city and work in the house.
“When the family left for Dubai five days ago, Susheel and Molhu broke into some rooms on Monday night and after opening cupboards took away property valued at Rs 3 crore and escaped,” said Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, C V Anand.
The family was alerted on Tuesday morning, by an employee Abhay about the burglary and a complaint made with the Narayanguda police.
The police teams checked the footages of the closed circuit cameras installed in the house and found out that Susheel was one of the persons involved in the heist. The police traced Susheel, Molhu and other woman Basanthi to Secunderabad railway station and found that they had boarded the Telangana Express train.
“Three special teams were sent by flight to Bhopal, Nagpur and Patna to track down and arrest Susheel and his accomplices. A team caught them at Nagpur and they were brought to the city,” said C V Anand.
During interrogation, the police learnt that Molhu was the prime suspect in the case of murder for gain reported at Domalguda in January 2024 where in a 68 year old lady was killed and property worth Rs 1 crore stolen. The police so far could not recover the property in the Domalguda case.
“One person was caught in the Domalguda murder for gain case. Now, Molhu the prime suspect is caught. One more person Rahul is suspect in the case and is absconding,” the Hyderabad CP said.
