Hyderabad: Trader held for storing explosives in residential area ahead of Diwali
Ahead of Diwali, Hyderabad police and the Task Force (East) raided an illegal firecracker storage unit at Siddamber Bazar, arresting a trader and seizing 100 cartons worth Rs 18 lakh. The firecrackers were stored without a valid licence in a residential area.
Hyderabad: In a major crackdown ahead of the Diwali festive season, the Task Force (East) team along with the local police, raided an illegal firecracker storage unit at Siddamber Bazar and arrested an individual on Friday.
Officials seized 100 cartons of various brands of firecrackers worth Rs 18 lakh.
Police said Shyam Kumar Sugandhi, a trader from Bogulkunta, was allegedly storing the explosive firecrackers in residential premises without a valid licence.
“The storage of such explosive materials in densely populated residential areas poses a serious threat to human life and property. Strict action will be taken against individuals indulging in unauthorised storage and sale of firecrackers, especially within residential zones,” said a Task Force official.
The seized material and arrested person were handed over to the Afzalgunj police.
