Hyderabad: Chief Justice of India N V Ramana on Sunday thanked everyone who called on him during his maiden visit to the city after his appointment to the top post.

The approach of Telangana people that ‘Anta Manole..’ (Everyone is ours) reflected the true Hyderabadi hospitality, he said in a statement, thanking Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Chief Justice of Telangana High Court Justice Hima Kohli, judges, ministers, elected representatives and others for the warm welcome given to him.

“Those who met me did not raise their personal issues but only requested to strengthen the judicial system,” he said. The people of Telangana took care of him like parents and as a child. “This visit is one of the most emotional situations in my life,” the CJI said.

He appreciated the State government for developing Yadadri as one of the major pilgrim centres in the country. He thanked the officials of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and board members of Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Varla Devasthanam in Srisailam for making necessary arrangements during this visit.

The CJI said that he became emotional when senior citizens and retired judges came to extend blessings to him despite Covid situation for the last one-and-a-half years. People from all sectors, farmers, teachers, women and students among others called on him without expecting any benefit and showed affection towards him.

He also thanked officials from the State government, Raj Bhavan and High Court staff and police for making arrangements during his stay for the last one week till he reached New Delhi. He advised everyone not to let their guard down until scientists and the government confirm that Covid-19 was controlled completely.

“There should not be any negligence and everyone should follow the safety measures,” he added.
