Hyderabad: A Hyderabad-based voluntary organisation, VOICE-4 Girls, through a series of training workshops, has empowered close to 2,500 girl students, hailing from marginalised backgrounds, from social welfare educational institutions, with life and leadership skills to make informed choices on safety, rights and future planning.
Through the ‘Her Voice’ programme, the organisation has been conducting engaging activities in a fun-filled learning approach at Telangana Social Welfare Residential Junior College ( TGSWRSJC) (G) Chevella.
The programme has proven to be a transformative experience for 69 girls, fostering a noticeable increase in developing their own agency. Sakhi Peer Leadership is the final phase of the programme, VOICE-4 Girls in a press release said.
Palla Malathi, Principal, TGSWRSJC (G) Chevella, says, “VOICE-4 Girls has conducted its third camp, the Sakhi Peer Leadership Camp in our school, and we are happy to host the programme once again. The sustained engagement has resulted in noticeable improvements in students’ confidence, classroom participation, and peer interactions. Girls are more willing to ask questions, take leadership roles, and mentor their juniors, which has contributed positively to both their academic engagement and overall school environment.”
The programme is conducted in three modules – Parichay, Disha and Sakhi Peer Leadership (10 days each), which aspire to provide a safe and inclusive space where girls learn about their bodies, safety, rights and future planning, the press release said.
