Hyderabad: YouTuber arrested for blackmailing, threatening MLA

Suspect M Shyam Sunder, in conspiracy with Nirupa Anil Kumar Dadania, sought to extort money using fabricated accusations against the MLA

Hyderabad: A self-claimed scribe of Praja Voice, a vernacular YouTube news channel, was arrested by the Rajendranagar police on charges of threatening, blackmailing and demanding Rs 5 crore from T Laxmikantha Rao, MLA of Jukkal, on Thursday.

As per available information, the suspect M Shyam Sunder, in conspiracy with one Nirupa Anil Kumar Dadania, sought to extort money allegedly using fabricated accusations against the MLA.

The suspect threatened to release an alleged recorded interview of a woman to tarnish the MLA’s reputation. He allegedly blackmailed and demanded Rs 5 crore from Laxmikantha Rao, for not putting out the interview on public platforms.

Based on a complaint from the MLA, the Rajendranagar police have booked a case and subsequently arrested Shyam Sunder.

Devices including laptops, desktops, a mobile phone, and a vehicle, were seized. The case is under investigation.
