Hyderabad: Hussain Sagar in the city is filled to the brim following significant inflows, local authorities confirmed on Monday.
According to data, Hussain Sagar Lake is experiencing a net 1,027 cusecs of inflow and 1,130 cusecs of outflow. The present water level in the lake is 513.40 metres, just below the lake’s full tank level (FTL) of 513.41 metres.
The increased water levels in the lake are primarily due to heavy rainfall in the surrounding catchment areas over the past few days. As a result, the lake reached its maximum capacity, raising concerns about potential overflow during peak rainfall periods.
The GHMC is monitoring the situation closely and has implemented necessary measures to manage the inflow and prevent any flooding in nearby areas. “We are continuously monitoring the water levels and have taken steps to ensure the safety of residents in adjacent localities,” a GHMC official told Telangana Today.
Residents have been advised to stay alert and follow updates from the authorities to remain informed about the situation.
