Hyderabad: Hyderabad girl Yadlapalli Pranjala emerged champion in the $15,000 ITF tennis tournament at the KSLTA in Bengaluru, on Sunday.
The tennis player, seeded fourth, defeated her compatriot Sowjanya Bhavisetti 7-5, 6-2 in the summit clash to emerge champion. Despite trailing in the first set, the 22-year-old regrouped well to clinch the close first set. She then ran away with the second set comfortably.
Speaking after her victory, Pranjala said. “I am very delighted win the trophy. The competition has been very high and winning the title here gave a lot of confidence.”
Meanwhile, Sowjanyan, clinched women’s doubles crown. She along with Rutuja Bhosale defeated the pair of Mihika Yadav and Vaidehi Chaudhari on Saturday night.
