Hyderabad: Cars breaking down on highways and families getting down to push them is a common sight, but pushing a plane? Yes, you read it right.
The incident happened at Surat airport which recently got the international tag.
In a video that had gone viral, ground staff of the airport was seen pushing the plane backwards. The reason: it had developed technical snag. As the pilot was unable to move it, the airport staff had to step in to save the day!
Passengers waiting at the airport lounge found the incident worth capturing on their mobiles.
The video amazed even businessman Harsh Goenka who shared it on his X, saying “If the plane doesn’t start……only in India.”
Reacting to the video an X user said, “India is not for beginners, good they have not shown that by moving aeroplane, it starts like four wheeler. We are jugad India.”
Supporting the power of the ground staff, another user commented, “Dear Harsh, the best part of I did is, we will not sit like Germany for the only specialists. We have specialists everywhere. And we are the only country to have launched rocket carrying parts on bicycle.” (sic)
“Bahubali kind of feeling”, said another. “Thank God there is no kick in the plane otherwise they may have tilted it on the right side. To kick start the plane,” added another.
While most found it funny, some found it quite normal to push the plane because it cannot move backwards, so this is the only solution to move it back.
“This is normal bro. Small planes can be pulled!! And if the same thing happened in the US then you will be like.. wow great America”, lamented a Reddit user. “I work in this company. The engineer didn’t allow pushback hence they had to do it manually. It’s all good though happens quite often”, said another.
Of late, Indian airports have been in the news for the wrong reasons with instances like canopies of airports collapsing, and water flooding into the airport.
