Sangareddy: Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) researchers developed a Smart IoT based ICU ventilator “Jeevan Lite”.
Unlike the regular ventilators, the Jeevan Lite Ventilator is portable, cost-effective, IoT enabled and is powered by Lithium-Ion batteries. It can be operated in SIMV (Synchronised Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation) and CMV (Continuous Mandatory Ventilation), Adoption and Hybrid Modes of Ventilation for five long hours. It can be controlled with a smartphone mobile application. While the regulator which is being used commercially now in hospitals costs Rs 15 lakhs, the Jeevan lite is being sold at Rs 4 lakhs.
IIT-H Researchers Rajesh Yadav, Cyril Antony, who completed the Fellowship programme from the Centre for Health care Entrepreneurship, have founded a start-up called Aerobisys on IIT-H Campus and developed the Smart ICU Ventilator.
Explaining about their product before Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, founder and Chief Executive Officer Rajesh Yadav said that it will be very useful in rural areas and semi-urban areas where the ventilators are difficult to find. Since only Corporate Hospitals were possessing Ventilators now, Yadav said that even small nursing homes in semi-urban areas can place them Jeevan Lite ventilators in their hospitals. The Governor, Chairman Board of Governors IIT-H BVR Mohan Reddy, Director Prof BS Murty appreciated Team Aerobiosys for developing such a smart Ventilator.
