Sangareddy: The Rural Development Centre (RDC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH), in collaboration with its student-led outreach group Prayas, organised Prerna-2025, a flagship programme designed to inspire rural school students and their parents to pursue education with confidence, awareness, and long-term ambition.
As part of IITH’s commitment to rural empowerment, inclusive education, and community development, Prerna-2025 brought together more than 500 participants, including students, parents, and teachers from villages such as Kandi, Indrakaran, Cheriyal, ODF, Yeddumailaram, and Kalivemula located near the campus.
Addressing the students on Monday, IITH Director Prof BS Murty said the institute aimed to nurture curiosity, confidence, and aspirations among young learners while supporting their parents. Sangareddy SP Paritosh Pankaj delivered an inspiring lecture, asking the students to believe in the power of discipline, purpose, and self-confidence in shaping their future.
Students later toured IITH’s academic blocks and laboratories, receiving first-hand exposure to the institute’s research-driven learning ecosystem. Parents participated in an interactive session where the founder of Aksharaan, Dr Sri Rama Chandra Murthy Machiraju, spoke about lifelong learning and the crucial role parents must play in nurturing children’s aspirations.
