Watch: In a first, Karimnagar district officials perform national anthem in sign language on I-Day
The 79th Independence Day celebrations in Karimnagar witnessed district officials singing the national anthem in Indian Sign Language (ISL) alongside deaf students. The unique gesture, led by Collector Pamela Satpathy and other senior officials, was aimed at promoting inclusivity and understanding the experiences of the hearing-impaired community.

Karimnagar: The national anthem sung by the top district officials in Indian Sign Language (ISL) became a major attraction during the 79th Independence Day celebrations held at the police parade ground here on Friday.
As part of the cultural programmes conducted on the occasion, Collector Pamela Satpathy, Additional Collector Ashwini Tanaji Wakade, and Municipal Commissioner Praful Desai sang the national anthem in Indian Sign Language along with deaf students.
IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu, other officials and people who attended the Independence Day celebrations were impressed with the initiative by the collector and other officials.
In order to understand the feelings of hearing-impaired people, district officials were given one week of training in Indian Sign Language. Officials learnt the basics of ISL.
