Hyderabad: Indian Space Association (ISpA), an industry body created to be the collective voice of the Indian space industry, was formally launched on 11 October 2021.

Member entities
We are continuously adding both startups as well as established companies to the ISpA and we also plan to integrate with other industry associations for a collective voice in the space sector in India.
The founder members include Bharti Airtel, Larsen & Toubro, Nelco, One-Web, MapMyIndia, Walchandnagar Industries and Alpha Design Technologies. The core members include Ananth Technologies, Centum Electronics, Godrej & Boyce, Maxar India, Hughes Communications, MIL Industries, Bharat Forge and Astra Microwave Products.
The startup members include, Agnikul Cosmos, Astrome Technologies, Bellatrix Aerospace, Dhruva Space, Digantara Research & Technologies, Dron Vayu, GalaxEye Space Solutions, Kawa Space, Kepler Aerospace, Pixxel, Skyroot Aerospace and Pixxel.
Core objectives
ISpA aims to be an advocate and enabler for private and public sector engagement, growth, and capacity building in India’s space domain.
We will work with the Indian government, regulatory entities, and national and international organisations to achieve this goal along with other stakeholders, and participate in formulating effective, efficient and appropriate policies and regulatory frameworks for ease of doing business and policy stability.
The association also aspires to foster awareness and promotion of design, manufacture, launch, operation, and R&D of space related equipment such as satellites, launch vehicles, ground and space control systems. etc.
Global ties
ISpA is already in discussions to integrate with other industry associations in India. In the last few years, India has become a prominent name in the global space sector with successful completion of missions by ISRO.
Currently, we are focusing on unifying the Indian space players and stakeholders on a single platform and would eventually look forward to tie-ups with other relevant international associations and industry bodies.
Startup push
India has the potential to become a technology leader in the global space industry. Led by ISRO, the nation has built a formidable foundation for the next phase of growth in the space sector.
Deep tech space start-ups and private enterprises are increasingly contributing to unlocking the possibilities of space. IspA would be mentoring and supporting the startups to identify and align with relevant funding associations and venture capitalists to grow their businesses.
Pan-India presence
We intend to build a pan-India footprint and look forward to setting up chapters in major cities where space related activities are being undertaken.
