Indiramma Indlu beneficiaries must pay Rs.6 lakh for CURE flats
The Telangana government has launched the Indiramma Indlu Housing Scheme in the CURE area, under which beneficiaries must contribute Rs 6 lakh towards a flat costing Rs 11 lakh. The government plans to construct one lakh flats in phases across 16 Assembly constituencies
Hyderabad: Unlike the previous BRS government, which provided double-bedroom houses free of cost to the poor, the Congress government has decided that beneficiaries under the Indiramma Indlu Housing Scheme in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) area must contribute Rs 6 lakh to own a flat.
Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the government plans to construct one lakh flats in the CURE area under the scheme. Each flat will have a built-up area of 528 sq ft and is estimated to cost Rs 11 lakh. The State government will provide a subsidy of Rs 5 lakh, while the beneficiary must pay the remaining Rs 6 lakh in phases. The payment includes Rs 1 lakh after completion of the RCC structure, Rs 2 lakh during the finishing stage and the balance Rs 3 lakh at the time of completion and handover, he said after formally launching the scheme on Monday.
Apart from this, applicants must pay an application fee of Rs 100 and a refundable token advance of Rs 10,000. Beneficiaries will be selected through a draw of lots. Applicants who are not selected will receive a refund of the token amount. The government plans to build 10-storey apartment towers in prime locations across the CURE area. Srinivas Reddy said the undivided share of land attached to each flat is valued between Rs 40 lakh and Rs 60 lakh and will be provided free of cost to beneficiaries.
In the first phase, the government has identified Housing Board and other departmental lands in 16 Assembly constituencies. Construction of 7,680 flats has been proposed initially, with additional land to be identified later in other constituencies for the remaining houses. “The plan is to construct one lakh houses in the CURE area. These houses will be completed before the next Bonalu,” the Minister said.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants should not own a house or plot anywhere within the Outer Ring Road limits. The annual household income should not exceed Rs 6 lakh. Only one application will be accepted per family, and the applicant must be a resident of the respective Assembly constituency. Beneficiaries cannot sell or rent out the flat for 10 years after taking possession. However, they will be allowed to mortgage the property with banks.
Applications can be submitted through MeeSeva centres, the MeeSeva portal or the MeeSeva WhatsApp service.
