Hyderabad: Former Minister and senior BRS MLA T Harish Rao on Wednesday condemned the lathi charge on farmers waiting for fertilisers in Narsimhulapet mandal of Mahabubabad district. He squarely blamed Chief Minister and Home Minister A. Revanth Reddy for the incident and demanded that he apologise to farmers.

“This is inhumane and shameful. Instead of resolving their grievances, this government is beating up farmers,” Harish Rao said.

The BRS leader accused the Congress government of betraying farmers by failing to deliver on promises made under the Warangal Farmers Declaration before the elections.

“On one hand, the government failed to provide fertilisers on time, and on the other, it chose to assault farmers who were standing in queues for long hours,” he said.

He further stated that farmers, who should be working in their fields, were being forced to spend sleepless nights on the roadside in the struggle to secure urea and fertilisers.

“Instead of addressing their woes, this government is resorting to lathi charge. How many more hardships and insults should farmers have to endure for fertilisers?” he asked.
