Innovative waste management: SCB wins Swachh Survekshan award

Hyderabad: Secunderabad Cantonment Board, said to be the second-largest in terms of area among Cantonments in the country, has been honoured with a national award for solid waste management initiatives.
The Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) was recognised with the ‘Swachh Survekshan award‘ (special category) by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
“This award was specifically for its commendable efforts in solid waste management and the implementation of innovative best practices,” an official release by SCB officials said on Saturday.
The award acknowledges the SCB’s systematic and comprehensive approach to waste management, which includes robust door-to-door waste collection, effective source segregation, and efficient processing and disposal of solid waste.
Beyond infrastructure, the SCB was lauded for its proactive engagement with the community. Through various awareness campaigns, rallies, and school initiatives, they successfully encouraged citizen participation, instilling a culture of cleanliness and responsible waste disposal.
