Jagga Reddy says he ‘forgot’ polling station incident, blames inspector
Congress leader T Jagga Reddy has defended his actions at a Sangareddy polling station, claiming he was compelled to intervene after Inspector V Shiva Kumar allegedly manhandled a Congress worker.
Sangareddy: Congress leader T Jagga Reddy on Thursday said he had forgotten his conduct at the polling station in the 34th ward of Sangareddy municipality by 5 pm on Wednesday, barely three hours after he allegedly abused a police officer and attempted to enter the polling station to disrupt the voting process.
He, however, accused Inspector V Shiva Kumar of violating election guidelines by supporting his rival party. Alleging that Shiva Kumar had evicted Congress worker Addu, husband of Congress contestant from the 34th ward Hameeda Begum, by holding his collar, Jagga Reddy said he was compelled to rush to the spot in support of his followers.
“I had decided against complaining to higher officials against Shiva Kumar since I wanted to treat the officer in the same way as he treated a Congress worker,” Jagga Reddy said.
He added that the investigating officers and the court would determine who had actually erred. “I will welcome the verdict of the court,” he said.
Countering BRS leaders KT Rama Rao and T Harish Rao, Jagga Reddy posted videos of their statements in which they had questioned the conduct of officials during the Telangana movement.
