Jagtial: An alleged case of misuse of government aid by a Congress leader has surfaced in the district, this time involving the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) in Kodimial mandal.
Gudipelli Raju, a resident of Kodimial, underwent spinal surgery at a hospital in Karimnagar last year, for which he was charged Rs 1.34 lakh. He subsequently applied for financial assistance under the CMRF.
Though an amount of Rs. 34,000 was sanctioned on October 10 last year, Raju did not receive the cheque. When he approached the Choppadandi MLA camp office to enquire about the status of his application, he was informed that the cheque was with Mallial Agriculture Market Committee Vice-Chairman Gaddam Jeevan Reddy.
Upon enquiry, Jeevan Reddy reportedly told him that another individual named Raju from Chinthalapalli had withdrawn the amount.
The Congress leader claimed that the cheque was mistakenly handed over to the other Raju due to identical names. He returned Rs 34,000 to Gudipelli Raju and allegedly asked him not to disclose the matter. However, the incident went viral in local WhatsApp groups.
