Jagtial: In a rare display of devotion, a couple reached a temple by performing ‘Sashtanga Namaskaram’ (prostration) as part of their religious vow. The incident took place at Dharmapuri on the occasion of Vaikuntha Ekadashi.
Mamidala Venkatesh and Sharadha, residents of Rajaram village in Dharmapuri mandal, reached the Dharmapuri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple by prostrating themselves continuously over a distance of five kilometres.
As they observed Mauna Vratham, a vow of silence, the couple declined water offered by local residents along the way.
After reaching the shrine, they had darshan of the presiding deity through the Vaikuntha Dwaram and later performed special poojas.
