Karimnagar: Jammikunta police traced Sama Krishna Sri and Vaishnavi, the two sisters who went missing from their home in Gopalpur on Monday, within 24 hours and found them in Kothakota village in Makthal mandal of Mahabubnagar district on Wednesday.
Police traced the girls with the help of their mobile phone signals. The sisters were brought back to Jammikunta and handed over to their parents.
Upset over their mother’s warning against getting hooked to mobile phone, Krishna Sri and Vaishnavi left their home in Gopalpur, a hamlet village of Vavila in Jammikunta mandal on Monday afternoon and did not return even late at night.
Following a complaint lodged by the parents, police began investigation and examined CCTV footage in nearby areas and found the girls boarding an autorickshaw at Gumpula cross road and moving towards Jammikunta.
According to mobile phone data, they spoke with their classmates from Mahabubnagar before their mobile phone was switched off at around 7 pm.
Based on CCTV footage and mobile data, police traced them at Mahabubnagar within 24 hours. On getting to know the whereabouts of the girls, a crime team from Jammikunta went to Mahabubnagar and brought the sisters back.
When questioned, the girls said they went to Kothakota to meet their classmates, who were also studying with them in Hyderabad. The parents had migrated to the State capital, and Krishna Sri and Vaishnavi were studying in a private school in Hyderabad.
Commissioner of Police VB Kamalasan Reddy and Huzurabad ACP Srinivasa Rao appreciated the efforts of Jammikunta CI K Srujan Reddy, SI M Praveen Raj, constables Pasha, Sampath, Kishan and Ashok, home guard Mahesh and cybercrime RI Murali, all of whom played a vital role in the case.
