Jangaon: Town police have registered a case against an advocate named Sadiq Ali for allegedly spreading rumours on social media platforms over the medical and health services being provided for the Covid-19 patients at the Jangaon district headquarters hospital here on Tuesday. According to a press note released by the police here on Tuesday, the police booked a case against Sadiq Ali based on a complaint lodged by hospital superintendent Dr Pujari Raghu and in due consultation with a local court. It is learnt that a case under several sections of the IPC, Information Technology Act and Disaster Management Act, 2005 was registered against the advocate.
It is alleged that Sadiq Ali had claimed that he had donated an oxygen cylinder to the hospital due to scarcity of oxygen. Dr Raghu in his complaint stated that the rumours created by Sadiq Ali on oxygen scarcity at the hospital created confusion and worry among the people though the Covid-19 patients are being provided with oxygen at the hospital. When called Jangaon Town Inspector Mallesh Yadav over the phone to get further details about the case, he has not responded.
