Hyderabad: The JNTU – Hyderabad students on Saturday demanded the State government immediately remove Andhra Pradesh native professors from the administrative posts.
In a letter to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Students Protection Forum (SPF) representatives alleged they were facing harassment for raising grievances with the university administration. The SPF claimed that instead of resolving their issues, including change of hostel rooms despite availability of vacant rooms, the officials targeted students through security.
Students also claimed that when they questioned the move to shift hostel rooms, they were allegedly reprimanded and threatened with suspension, rustication and cancellation of admissions if they did not vacate their rooms.
Students said repeated attempts to meet the rector, in-charge registrar and vice chancellor to explain their issues did not yield any response. The forum alleged that the rector threatened to cancel students’ admissions and UCESTH principal and vice principal asked the police to arrest protesting students.
The University students wanted the government to change professors from the administrative positions, who threatened them of rustication.
Apart from repatriating Prof. Sathya Narayana to JNTU Jagtial and removal of university rector and UCESTH vice principal, students demanded establishment of a grievance system for all universities in the State
