Hyderabad: Following complaints against certain private affiliated colleges about removing teaching and non-teaching staff after inspections for grant of affiliation, the JNTU-Hyderabad decided to hold surprise inspections at such institutions.
The JNTU-Hyderabad had conducted fact-finding committee visits to all affiliated engineering, pharmacy and standalone colleges for granting affiliation for the academic year 2026-27 from April 10 to 21. However, the varsity received complaints stating that some managements removed a considerable number of both teaching and non-teaching staff after inspections.
“The affiliating university has to monitor both autonomous and non-autonomous colleges to maintain quality of education. Under these circumstances, based on the severity of complaints received, it is inevitable to conduct surprise visits at those colleges without any notice,” said Dr. K Venkateswara Rao, Registrar, JNTU-Hyderabad.
Welcoming the move, Telangana Schools Technical Colleges Employees Association (TSTCEA) president A Santosh Kumar said the university must take measures to ensure that colleges maintain faculty cadre ratio as per the regulations. “The university must initiate strict action against colleges that have dismissed faculty members,” he added.
