Sangareddy: Senior CPI (M) leader from erstwhile Mahabubnagar district John Wesley was elected as the party’s new State secretary on the concluding day of the four-day State Mahasabha held in Sangareddy.
Though senior leaders Jualakanti Ranga Reddy and S Veeraiah competed for the post, the State committee finally elected Wesley after deliberations. Wesley, a native of Amarachintha in Wanaparthy district, worked as State president of Kula Vivaksha Porata Samithi (KVPS) in the past.
Veteran leader Tammineni Veerabhadram worked as the first State secretary of CPI (M) in Telangana after Andhra Pradesh bifurcation in 2014.
Veteran leaders Veerabhadram, Cherupally Sitharamulu and Narsing Rao were also not part of the State committee for the first time. They may be inducted into the national committee, party sources said.
