Joining hands for the protection of Mother Earth

Delhi Public school, Nacharam has evinced it’s commitment towards Mother Earth with a special assembly on April 22. The day began with the introduction of chief guest Rolee Kanchan, professor, faculty of Science, Department of Geography, the University of Baroda by Principal Dr. Sunitha Rao. The proceedings commenced with a soulful prayer that brightened the day. The earth day pledge to protect our earth was recounted by the chief guest followed by participants.

The significance of earth day was briefly highlighted by a student of class XII followed by a peek into the past initiatives of the school – Haritha Haram, a campaign to create a lush green campus.

Students of class 12 elucidated the impact of human activities that triggered adverse changes in nature. A play titled ‘one earth, one chance’ based on the theme – ‘Nature’s impartiality and human misconception’ projected the irrevocable damage caused to nature and the immediate need to shift to sustainable development.

A panel discussion enlightened the participants about the transcending concern of environmental degradation and the emerging need for immediate action. An instructive video With 51 tips for conservation was shared by the students to mark the 51st Mother Earth Day.

Chief guest, professor Rolee Kanchan addressed the students on the distorting effects of anthropogenic and natural causes for declining earth’s health. Statistical data from NASA was analyzed to underscore the gravity of the situation.
