Hyderabad: A significant number of educated candidates are contesting the Jubilee Hills by-election, with many of them holding postgraduate degrees.
The contrast among the contestants is quite striking. While independent candidate Kandarpally Kashinath is a highly qualified aspirant with multiple postgraduate degrees, another contender, Abhilas Bethi, has studied only up to Class VIII. Several other candidates too hold advanced degrees, which they believe will help them serve the public more effectively.
Kashinath, who hails from Nizamabad district, holds an MSc in Botany, an MSc in Psychology and an MA in Islamic Studies, and is contesting to highlight the issue of unemployment. Independent candidate Arrolla Praveen Kumar, a resident of BJR Nagar in Yousufguda, completed his PhD in Psychology in Uttarakhand and is contesting on a Praja Velugu Party ticket with the free symbol of ‘Camera’.
Shaik Rafath Jahan, another independent candidate, has an MSc in Applied Mathematics. She is contesting on behalf of the All India Majlis-E-Inquilab-E-Millat and has been allotted the free symbol of ‘Ship’.
Anil Kumar Gadepaka, a native of Jangaon, completed his Master of Tourism Management from Kakatiya University four years ago. Rahman Sahreef, a resident of Saidabad, is an MBA graduate.
Yadishwar Nakka, who holds both an MBA and an LLM from Osmania University, is in the fray representing the Telangana Republican Party. Asma Begum, from Mahabubnagar, is contesting as an independent on the ‘Battery Torch’ symbol and holds an MA degree.
In contrast, Janapala Durga Prasad, a resident of Gachibowli, is contesting on behalf of the Revolutionary Communist Party of India (Rasik Bhatt) and has not passed SSC. Another contestant, Mala Govindappa, has studied up to the Intermediate level.
When Telangana Today spoke with some of the highly qualified candidates, they said: “We will address key issues such as infrastructure development, education and healthcare, which are critical to the constituency’s growth and well-being.”
As the election date approaches, all the candidates are engaged in intense campaigning, focusing on issues that resonate with the electorate and working to connect with voters to present their vision for the future of Jubilee Hills.
The electorate is keen to see how these educated candidates perform in the polls.
