Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday said the Jubilee Hills by-election was a straight choice between the ‘Car’ (BRS) and the ‘Bulldozer’ (Congress). Urging voters to reject the Congress Bulldozer Raj, he said they should deliver the BRS a landslide victory to bring the ruling party to its senses to fulfil its promises.
“If the Congress wins, bulldozers will come to your house again,” he warned, while addressing the Munnuru Kapu Atmeeya Sabha held at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday.
Rama Rao said the Congress had deceived backward class communities over 42 per cent reservations without following due procedure. After tall promises and high drama, the issue was pushed into the courts and the Centre was being blamed for its non-implementation.
“From the start, the BRS has been insisting that 42 per cent BC reservation was possible only through a constitutional amendment. But the Congress chose to ignore it and mislead BCs, which indicates its clear intentions,” he said.
Questioning why the Congress had failed to honour promises like Rs 20,000 crore in annual budget for BC welfare which was within its purview, he demanded that the government release funds and prove its commitment for BC welfare. The BRS working president reminded that the Congress failed to deliver any of the promised six guarantees effectively. He slammed the government for implementing the lone promise of free bus rides for women, only to charge twice the amount for the rest of the family.
He took a swipe at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for reportedly organising his own felicitation and admitting his inefficiency in implementing the promises. “He made lofty promises to film workers at Yousufguda on Tuesday, only to immediately admit that he cannot fulfil all. Promises made there were typical rhetoric, and indicated the government’s inability and unwillingness to deliver,” he remarked.
Rama Rao accused Revanth Reddy of breaking promises and enriching cronies, while using heavy-handed tactics against the poor including demolition of homes using HYDRAA. Citing windfalls from liquor licences, he said the State government was diverting revenue away from public welfare.
Cautioning that the Congress might offer money in exchange for their vote, he urged them to question the former about the promised financial assistance to women, unemployed youth and senior citizens before seeking vote. He wanted the locals to stay vigilant regarding 13,000 fake voters enrolled in Jubilee Hills constituency.
