Hyderabad: The candidates involved in the Jubilee Hills bypoll have taken a break following the conclusion of the polling process. This comes after a month-long period of intense campaigning and election activities.
With the counting to be held on Friday, the candidates are taking some time off to recuperate from the rigorous schedule they maintained over the past month. Candidates from BRS, BJP and Congress, along with a few Independent contenders, had engaged in a rigorous campaign across the Jubilee Hills constituency.
They conducted padayatras, door-to-door canvassing, corner meetings and public gatherings both individually and with star campaigners and senior party leaders, making the by-poll a prestigious issue for all involved.
On Wednesday, the leading contenders remained largely indoors and pursued different activities ahead of the vote tally. BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha stayed home and spent time with her family members. Congress candidate Naveen Yadav also relaxed at his residence. Meanwhile, BJP candidate Lankala Deepak Reddy attended a meeting with party leaders and supporters to prepare the deployment of personnel for counting day.
Candidates expressed their gratitude to their supporters and the electorate for their participation in the polling process. Attention now shifts to the counting of votes and anticipation of results.
With the voter turnout being low as usual at around 48 percent, the three main contenders are pinning their winning chances amid the reduced participation. The candidates discussed the turnout impact with senior leaders and analysed the reasons behind the modest figures despite an extensive campaign covering the entire constituency.
Meanwhile, social media platforms of the parties circulated posts suggesting their candidates were confident of victory in the by-poll.
