Hyderabad: BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao on Friday asserted that a victory in the upcoming by-election would mark the beginning of the party’s resurgence across Telangana.
Addressing partymen as part of his campaign, he described the contest as a turning point, saying, “The Jubilee Hills win will be our launchpad. With the blessings of our women, Maganti Sunitha is set to achieve a resounding victory—and from here, BRS will rise again across the State.”
He extended a warm welcome to TDP general secretary Srinivas and a host of other leaders who joined the BRS fold, urging them to strengthen the party’s grassroots efforts.
He also congratulated Praveen, one of the contestants from the constituency who has filed his nomination and pledged support to BRS.
Emphasizing the party’s growing momentum ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections on November 11, he highlighted Srinivas Naidu’s long-standing contributions, noting that Srinivas Naidu has been involved in numerous programmes for many years. He should have joined us five years ago, and now he has finally arrived.”
He pointed out the defection of a mayor who had won on a BRS ticket and later joined the ruling Congress, questioning, “What work is Revanth Reddy doing? Now, what can this mayor do for us in the ruling party?”
Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress government, he likened the state’s current situation to the chaotic comedy film ‘Aha Naa Pellanta’
He alleged that the Congress had distributed “guarantee cards” making tall promises including “gold” besides a “heaven in your hands,” but failed to fulfill.
He further criticized the much-hyped free bus scheme, claiming that they say they’re providing free buses, but while the wife is given free travel, the husband is made to cough double the charge.”
He reminisced about the welfare initiatives under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, including Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes, which provided financial aid for weddings. “Under KCR, we gave Rs 13,000 for a girl child and Rs 12,000 for a boy at birth,” he said.
However, he lamented that these programmes, along with the KCR Kit, Nutrition Kit, Ramzan gifts, and Bathukamma sarees, have all been discontinued by the current regime.
“Elections come and go, but do they threaten to shut everything down?”, he questioned referring to Congress leaders’ alleged warnings.
He accused Revanth Reddy of forgetting that “the people gave him the position” and behaving like a “king.” Turning to the Jubilee Hills constituency, he declared, “The people of Jubilee Hills are ready to cut ties with Congress.”
Questioning the rationale for voting Congress, he charged the party with destroying the real estate sector and achieving “nothing good in two years.” He highlighted demolitions targeting homes of poor people under the guise of “Indiramma Rajyam,” and bulldozer actions against the underprivileged. “Out of 420 promises made by the Congress, not a single one has been fulfilled – not even the BC and SC declarations they announced,” he added. He described Revanth Reddy as merely a “trustee of the people’s money,” warning that “if he speaks as he pleases, the people will teach him a lesson.
Defending the party’s decision to field Gopinath’s widow, Sunitha, Rama Rao said ‘KCR gave her the ticket to support the family. If a woman cries after losing her husband, they’re calling it drama. Would they speak so unjustly even if a girl child sheds tears? We must teach a lesson to those who insult women,” he said. Asserting resilience despite defections, he stated, “Even if the mayor and other leaders joined Congress after coming to power, the people are with us.” He stated that the Jubilee Hills victory would be the launchpad for BRS Party’s statewide resurgence and for KCR’s return as Chief Minister.
“With the blessings of our women, Maganti Sunitha is set to achieve a resounding victory,” he concluded.
