Hyderabad: The Junior Wing of Delhi Public School, Nacharam hosted a virtual inter-school competition for classes I and II recently titled Junior Wordsmith – Wizard of sounds and syllables.
The theme of the event was mastery over words, sounds and syllables as per the foundational literacy and numeracy goals of NEP 2020 and the little ones competed with their peers in demonstrating their excellence in the areas of story narration using blends, poem recitation, delivering a speech and explain a topic like a teacher
The competition saw enthusiastic and talented participants from various schools across the twin cities taking part in it. This wonderful one-day journey started with the auspicious lighting of the lamp. Principal Sunitha Rao graced the occasion. She motivated the little ones with her inspirational words and introduced the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony Geetha Krishnan, EOMS Auditor.
Geetha Krishnan declared the event open and lauded the students for their participation. The inauguration saw the academic showcasing of the students of junior school and a sneak peek into the various categories of the competition.
A total of 127 students from 32 different schools of twin cities took part in four different categories namely “Blend and Bloom” (story narration using blend words) and “Recite Rejoice” (poem recitation) for Class I and “Speech Specialist” (recreating the speech of a famous personality) and “Future Teacher” (little ones teaching a concept) for Class II.
The event concluded with the valediction ceremony rewarding the Junior Wordsmiths. Head Mistress of Junior School, Delhi Public School, Nacharam Uma Kasinadhuni proposed a vote of thanks.
