Khammam: The first Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekhar Rao’s 10-year rule was a model for the country as he introduced and implemented many development and welfare schemes successfully, said former MP Nama Nageswara Rao.
The former BRS Lok Sabha party leader Nageswara Rao extended his greetings to the Telangana people on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day. In a statement here on Sunday, he called upon the public to remember the sacrifices of martyrs and activists made for achieving Telangana.
The ex-MP recalled that the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Bill was introduced when he was the parliamentary party leader in the 15th Lok Sabha and was the MP from State to cast the first vote in favour of it.
Chandrashekhar Rao fulfilled the long-standing desire of the people by leading a peaceful movement on the path of non-violence shown by Mahatma Gandhi. The poor and suppressed sections of the society have benefited greatly through schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya, Kalyana Lakshmi, Aasara Pension, KCR Kits, Kanti Velugu and construction of double-bedroom houses, he noted.
A large number of Gurukul schools have been established to provide quality education to students from socially and economically backward classes. Additionally, 24-hour free electricity to farmers, procurement of paddy at profitable prices and Basti Dawakhanas marked the beginning of a new era for Telangana during the BRS regime, Nageswara Rao said.
He wanted the public from all walks of life to celebrate Telangana Formation Day not just as a festival, but as a day to commemorate the sacrifices of the martyrs. Youth should take inspiration from the history of the movement and rulers should work responsibly to solve the problems being faced by the people, he suggested.
