Hyderabad: Kalasagaram celebrated the inaugural Jayanthi Utsavam of Bhakta Ramadasu on his 389th jayanthi. Speaking on the occasion and addressing the gathering, the secretary of the cultural association, R Narayanan, said that the festival would be celebrated every year.
S Chandra Sekhar, a music teacher by profession, led a group vocal rendition of the ‘Navaratna krithis’ by his students and other artistes, including PV Subba Rao, KS Chailu, Ravi Kulothama Rao, M Dakshinamurthy, Manikyam Lakshmi Jayakumar, C Lakshmi and Aishwarya who sang each of the ‘Navaratna krithis’ individually.
They were accompanied on the violin by Komanduri Sowrirajyam and on the mrudangam by TP Balasubramanian and Sai Srinivas. The entire ‘Navaratna krithis’ were sung with bhakti. This was well-received by the audience. The president of the organisation felicitated S Chandra Sekhar after the concert.
