Hyderabad: The University of Hyderabad (UoH) continues to be on the boil over clearing of the forested land in Kancha Gachibowli, which has been put up for auction by the State government.
While the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) UoH unit has called for Maha dharna at the university main gate, the Students Union, along with other students organisations, have announced indefinite protest at administration building with boycott of classes from Tuesday.
Alleging that the university administration betrayed the students by facilitating land clearing activities for the State government, students demanded immediate removal of police and JCBs deployed on the campus.
Among the other demands of the Students Union were written assurance from the university that it would initiate steps to ensure that land was registered under the university and release minutes of the Executive Committee meeting held on the issue. It also wanted transparency in land related documents.
Apart from demanding cancellation of 400-acres of land auction and official restoration of land to the university, the ABVP UoH wanted construction of a permanent boundary wall for the university.
It also wanted public release of all legal documents, land surveys, GOs, and TGIC correspondences besides legal action against officials who violated the University’s statutes without Executive Council approval.
Meanwhile, a large number of police continued to be deployed at the university east campus and main gate. After thoroughly checking, only bonafide students being allowed inside the university.
