Karimnagar: Collector Pamela Satpathy instructed Mandal Educational Officers to visit a school every day and take meals along with students in the Mid-Day meal programme.
Collector conducted a meeting with MEOs at her camp office here on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, she wanted the officers to ensure that the students studying in government schools should not face any difficulties.
Officials should also ensure that mid-day meal agency staff should take all precautions while preparing food. Besides checking storerooms and records, MEOs should also check whether the quality was being followed in the preparation of food and know the problems if any by having lunch along with students.
If it was possible, MEOs should have lunch along with the parents of students by calling them to school. Stating that there was no question of compromising on the quality of food, she asked the officials to take steps to follow the menu. If any student developed ill-health, he/she should be taken only to primary health centers instead of RMPs.
Besides teaching discipline and moral values to students, focus should be on the maintenance of hostels, she said and asked MEOs to bring her notice if there were any problems.
Instructing the officials not to allow the students to use mobile phones in schools, the Collector wanted the authorities to act strictly if anybody was involved in eve-teasing and consuming drugs.
