KARIMNAGAR: The stage is all set for the counting of votes polled for the Medak-Nizamabad-Adilabad-Karimnagar Graduates and Teachers MLC constituency elections.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for counting at the Ambedkar Indoor Stadium here, where the ballot boxes were stored in strong rooms after polling was held on February 27. The counting process will start at 8 am on Monday.

A total of 35 tables including 21 for graduates and 14 for teachers have been arranged to take up counting. Four staff including micro observer, supervisor and two counting assistants will be deployed at each table. A total of 800 staff were deployed for the counting. Of this, 20 percent staff will be kept in reserve. All of them were given training. To carry out the counting process in a transparent manner, officials made arrangements to monitor every table with CCTV cameras.

To educate counting staff, mock counting was conducted to supervisors and counting assistants on Sunday. Participating in the programme, Returning officer and Collector Pamela Satpathy said the mock counting will help to take up the counting process without mistakes. She wanted the counting staff to continue the process without any disturbance by coordinating with each other. Staff should follow the instructions and advice given during the time of training without fail.

On the other hand, police made tight security arrangements to conduct polling peacefully. A total of 400 police personnel including an Additional DCP, 6 ACPs, 18 CIs, 30 SIs and others were deployed.
